Artcurial Motorcars and Renault Join Forces

French auction house Artcurial and automaker Renault have announced an exclusive partnership to offer select vehicles from the Renault collection at auction.

With almost 125 years of history building motorcars, Renault’s collection encompasses over 800 vehicles that span from the company’s creation in 1898 through today. The group ranges from prototypes and record-breaking vehicles to film cars and even two World War I FT-17 Tanks.

The move is part of Renault’s current “Renaulution” strategy of incorporating its impressive history into plans for the future, while also bringing new life to the collection.

“To prosper, a collection must evolve, adapt and come alive around a core of major pieces. We are delighted to be supported by Artcurial in this process, and to offer those with a passion for the marque the chance to own a piece of Renault’s extraordinary history,” said Hugues Portron, Director of Renault Classic.

The vehicles from the collection will be offered at Artcurial’s next three scheduled auctions in a special section entitled “The Renault Icons.” The first group will be available during next month’s Artcurial Le Mans Classic 2022 sale held on July 2, with subsequent offerings available at the October Automobiles sur les Champs event and Salon Rétromobile in February of 2023.

One of the eight Renault Icons slated for the July Le Mans Classic is the 1983 Renault RE40-03 Formula One race car that was driven by motorsport legend Alain Prost. Powered by a Turbocharged V6 pumping out 650 hp, chassis 03 was one of four RE40s driven by Prost in the 1983 season. RE40-03 was used in five Grand Prix races including a win at the Belgian GP, a second-place finish at San Marino and third at Monaco.
