Barrett-Jackson Wraps Record-Setting Year with $31.4m Houston Sale

The 2022 Houston Auction capped off Barrett-Jackson’s most successful year in the company’s 50-plus year history. A sales total of more than $31.4 million was realized during the three-day event held at the NRG Center in Texas. 481 vehicles crossed the auction block for a total of $30.6m, with 269 pieces of automobilia selling for an additional $809k and leading to a 100% sell-through rate.

At the top of the high-sales list was a trio of Ford GTs lead by a 551-mile Liquid Grey 2019 Ford GT at $1,028,500. Just behind at $990k was a similar 2019 Ford GT finished in matte black. The final member of the top-selling trio was a 2006 Ford GT sporting a fresh white exterior with blue stripes. It sold for $429k.

Two custom vehicles rounded out the top five high sales. They are a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Convertible built by Steve Hayes Customs on an Art Morrison chassis, and a 2003 Hummer H1 Predator Custom SUV that was accompanied by a custom-built trailer. Under the hood of the Chevy was a GM LS3 V8 pumping out 540 hp, while Predator fitted the Hummer with a modified 6.6-L Duramax turbo-diesel engine producing 450hp and a massive 900 ft-lb of torque. The Corvette and H1 sold for $379,500 and $323,400 respectively.

As is Barrett-Jackson tradition, two vehicles rolled across the auction block for charity. The first was a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS Callaway/Hendrick Edition donated by Michelle Mauzy that sold for $250,000 and will benefit Operation Homefront. The second — a 2022 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Heritage Edition — donated by George Shinn, initially hammered sold at $400k with an additional $288k in donations pledged immediately after. The car was then donated back and crossed the block again for $300k. In total, $1,000,938 was raised from the sale of the GT500 with proceeds going to Samaritan’s Purse and the Florida Disaster Relief Fund in support of those affected by Hurricane Ian.
