Cool Cars, Cool Stickers

Linkage is here at the 2022 Monterey Car Week, and not many of the thousands of collector cars on the scene have stickers.

But the stickers that are on cars just drip cool.

Who wouldn’t love a Mille Miglia scrutineering sticker on their car? Other cool stickers I’ve seen so far include the Monterey FuelRun, old stickers from the Monterey Motorsports Reunion and an ancient parking sticker on a Chrysler 300.

But my favorite is the vintage  “It’s a BMW… One of the World’s 7 Best-Made” sticker on the back window of a 1957 BMW 507 Series II Roadster with hardtop at Bonhams’ The Quail Auction. The sticker has the slight dulling you’ll find on stickers that have spent decades on glass. It’s a little blast from the past on a car that’s a huge blast from the past.

This BMW, which has been out of public view for more than 40 years (and shows wonderful patination) will not cross the block here on August 19. This car is on display, and it will go up for auction at Bonhams’ The Audrain Concours Auction on September 20, 2022.
