The Zoute sale in Knokke-Heist is one of Bonhams|Cars’ biggest international sales of the year. Held alongside the Zoute Grand Prix for over a decade now, The Zoute Sale has consistently achieved exceptional results — last year’s event saw a grand total of €27 million.
Highlights this year include a 1926 Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix Two-Seater that’s estimated at $1.3m to $1.5m. It was acquired by an F1 driver in 1964 and has been with the same family in the years since. The car is highly original — rare for a Type 35 — with its original engine still in place. It was restored in 2008 and has documented history.
Also look for a 1956 Porsche 550 RS Spyder — a car that was delivered new to Belgium’s national racing team and is finished in their yellow livery over black. It ran six races with the team in 1956, including at Spa, Reims, and Montlhery. It ran in the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans and took second at the Grand Prix de Frontières and third at the Grand Prix de Spa and Nürburgring 1,000 km. It’s estimated to be worth from $3.9m to $4.5m
On the other side of the coin, a 2010 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss, estimated at $1.7m to $2.8m, will be offered without reserve. This red-on-red example is no. 75 of 75 produced and is presented with delivery mileage.
Also on the docket is a 2011 Aston Martin One-77. This is the first of only 77 examples produced and has been with the same owner since new, with the odometer showing only 528 km. The estimate on this car is $880k to $1.3m and it’s offered without reserve.
Additional highlights include:
1955 Bentley R-Type Continental Fastback previously owned by Count Bernadotte of Sweden. Estimate: $400k – $440k.
1992 Lamborghini Diablo, presented with only 37,000 km and one owner from new. Estimate: $200k – $280k.
1969 De Tomaso Mangusta that has been professionally restored at no expense spared, Estimate: $280k – $390k.
